15 September 2026 Morrissey ’27 Builds Real Estate Experience in New York
Through an internship with Cushman & Wakefield, Bauer Morrissey ’27 experiences the commercial side of New York City real estate.
With the help of alumni, Bauer Morrissey ’27 spent the summer interning with Cushman & Wakefield, one of the largest commercial real estate services firms in the world.
Working in the firm’s New York office, Morrissey was part of a 40-person intern class working with a team of six brokers, a senior associate and an associate. Bauer researched potential tenants, studying amenities at buildings across the city and accompanying brokers on property tours with clients.
“My experience was even better than I could’ve imagined,” Morrissey says. “The more I learn about the business, the more I want to be part of it.”
The internship builds on Morrissey’s 2025 summer experience at the Bozzuto Group, where he worked in sales and marketing management at The Capitol, a 39-story residential tower in Chelsea. There, he toured prospective residents through available spaces and assisted current residents, gaining experience in the residential side of the industry.
His move into commercial real estate began with conversations at HWS. Working with the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, Morrissey identified alumni in the industry and began reaching out to learn more about their work.
One of them was Daniel Organ ’11, a Hobart hockey alumnus Morrissey contacted at Cushman & Wakefield. Others included Brendan O’Leary ’16 and Brett Barry ’19. O’Leary helped him prepare for interviews, Morrissey says.
When Morrissey was not initially accepted into the firm’s internship program, Organ offered to sponsor him for the summer. Over the spring semester, Morrissey kept in touch with Organ and Henry Molson, an associate on the team, about their work and the commercial real estate business.
“I cannot be more grateful for his willingness to do that for me,” Morrissey says of Organ.
A business management and entrepreneurial studies major, Morrissey says the experience has given him opportunities to strengthen the interpersonal skills that are central to the industry.
“I really enjoy meeting new people from all different backgrounds, and I have been exposed to that this summer,” he says.
Morrissey is a member of the Hobart hockey team, the Druid Society and the Chimera Orange Key honor society. His paid internship was also supported by HWS Guaranteed Internship Funding, which helped offset the cost of his summer housing in Brooklyn Heights.
